1963 Ducati 48 Sport
Engine number : 334627 CG collection To be restarted Ducati's first foray into two-wheeled transport was the 1945 Cucciolo ("little puppy") engine, designed to be attached to a bicycle. Unusual as a four-stroke engine at a time when most utility units of this type were two-stroke, the Cucciolo and its derivatives were used for a number of light motorbikes until the 1950s. However, over the next decade Ducati turned to two-stroke power for its smaller models, the most elegant of which was probably the 48 Sport. Introduced in 1962, this was a true "motorbike in miniature", with a duplex loop frame, 19-inch wheels and race-inspired styling.
