1983 MG METRO TURBO
Serial number SAXXBZND2BD828401 Very good condition Rare on our roads 68,000 km French title In the 1970's, the British Leyland automotive group was in a very bad position; its brands were aging, unreliable, and being swallowed up by the ever increasing German and Japanese competition in Europe. The MG brand even disappeared with the last MG B in 1980 and the directors were looking for a replacement for the Austin Mini which was not yet the cultural icon of today. The decision was made to create the Metro, which would be based on the chassis of its predecessor, with only the wings widened, but one question remained: under which brand would this new car be born? After thinking about Austin, the group finally decided to resurrect the MG brand, which had been extinct for two years, and in 1982 presented the final project in the form of a small city car with limited length and a very straight design typical of the 1980s. A sporty version was soon added to the range of engines which were not very powerful at the time. Our 1983 model benefits from this version and is equipped with a 1.3l SU carburettor and Turbo Garret engine that develops 95 horsepower for a minimum weight. A real little bombshell, our example has only 68,000 km and is in very good condition both inside and out where the many stickers remind passers-by that you are driving a sharp weapon that is very agile on small winding roads. With its original aesthetic configuration and its two-tone interior in very good condition, our Turbo is very surprising to drive and gives its driver sensations that few small sports cars can give. With a very different behaviour than our 205 GTI and a much firmer chassis, this little rarity is waiting for you to make its turbo whistle again.
