1996 JAGUAR XJR
Serial number SAJJPALF4BJ749727 Good condition Luxury and power French title The story of the Jaguar XJR can be likened to that of a family with a good upbringing and values that have been known and recognised for half a century and which sees the birth of the rebellious child who will upset this balance. Indeed, Jaguar is no longer a brand to be presented and it has proven its refinement, driving pleasure but also sportiness, all in bodies more elegant than the others. Concerned about this image and also wanting to modernise, the feline brand presented its new XJ sedan (type X300) in 1994 at the Paris Motor Show; its lines and general design are the perfect illustration of a company that juggles tradition and modernity and it is immediately appreciated for this in a world where sedans are all square without much work on elegance. While the new saloon is powered by Jaguar's "classic" engines: big V8s with an American character coupled to automatic gearboxes, the XJR version is powered by a supercharged 4.0L in-line 6-cylinder engine that gives it more than 320 horsepower, all in a decidedly sporty look. This car was first registered in April 1996 and is in remarkable condition both inside and out, with black leather throughout the cabin and dark wood trim to reinforce the modern and dynamic image. Having just passed the 100,000 km mark and benefiting from rigorous maintenance, it is with great pleasure that we take the wheel of this imposing sedan which still has some nice remains when we start to play with the accelerator pedal. The interior is typical of the luxury sedans of the early 2000s and there is an imposing telephone handset next to the gearbox. The ergonomics have been revised for this generation and everything is within easy reach: all the controls are grouped together on a plate behind the steering wheel, which is all the more practical as both hands have to hold the steering correctly, as on wet surfaces the rear often tends to want to wave at the front. When driving, the car is supple, the gears shift smoothly and the 6-cylinder engine sounds like the XK engines of the 1950s and 1960s, until the compressor hisses and the speedometer needle goes into overdrive. Comfort, luxury, power - all of these feelings will come alive when you take your future Jaguar XJR in hand; examples in this condition are becoming increasingly rare.
