1960 CITROEN ID 19 P
1960 CITROEN ID 19 P Export model (right hand drive) Made in Javel, may be the last remaining example Serial number 3088469 French registration ID or DS? Idea or Goddess? Judging by the success of the ID, it was certainly an excellent idea. Citroën was not there to play foil games in May 1957 when the ID was launched. On the contrary, by equipping its new model with the wonderful hydraulic suspension of the DS, but by reducing the equipment a little, the manufacturer from Quai de Javel ensured commercial outlets with a population that was more concerned about its wallet but wished to afford the refinement and the famous line of the DS, written down by Flaminio Bertoni and André Lefebvre. It should be noted in passing that the English magazine Classic&Sports Car awarded the DS the title of "most beautiful car of all time". This Citroën ID 19, delivered new on 30 March 1960, is a car that is still maintained. The current owner has been driving it regularly for 22 years. Some of the bodywork has been taken over. All the various exterior fittings seem to be present. Its interior is entirely original except for the red cloth upholstery, which is rare enough to be noticed. Mechanically, the engine was rebuilt 20 years ago and the test drive confirmed that the car runs well. The brakes have been revised recently. The ball bearings are new, the hydraulic suspension rises and falls well, the ID remains comfortable on rough roads. The four speed gearbox with steering wheel controls handles smoothly and without cracking. This is a very nice ID 19 to drive without fear of damaging the bodywork, or to undertake a nice paint job, which will give it back its letters of nobility. A little extra, it has its two original keys, its maintenance manual and a file of invoices to consult during the exhibition or on request.
