A curved chest of drawers made of rosewood,... - Lot 6 - Osenat
A curved chest of drawers made of rosewood, violet, bois de rapport and green tinted veneer inlaid with the coat of arms of Lunéville and Bar. It opens to two drawers without crossbar and rests on cambered legs. Royal red marble top from Belgium. Ornamentation of gilded and chased bronzes. Lorrain work from the Louis XV period. H : 82 W : 126 D : 63 cm (stains, maintenance restorations) According to a note from the Musée Historique Lorrain dated 1970, "the trophy that adorns the front of the chest of drawers does not bear a coat of arms, but the pennants that make it up are adorned with heraldic elements, at least the third one on the left, where we can see two salmon leaning against each other. These are the arms of the Duchy of Bar, but also of the family of Salm. As the Princes of Salm had a regiment in France in the 18th century, the chest of drawers could have been made for one of them. They had a hotel in Paris, the current Palais de la Légion d'Honneur, the Hôtel de Salm. One could also think of a piece of furniture from their castle in Senones in the Vosges."
