1993 YAMAHA GTS 1000
Serial number 4BH018162 Sold with a copy of the French car registration document. It's never easy to change era, and Yamaha, true to its image as an innovator, took a big risk at the end of 1992 by introducing on the market its new and beautiful 1000 GTS whose lines and front suspension are partly inspired by the 1990 Morpho Show Model. At the time, all the specialists agreed that the performance-oriented supersport motorcycle was in its final hours of glory. The same experts explained that the telescopic fork, however perfectly developed it was, still had its weak points. Steering and suspension are the same, so braking and cornering are disrupted by the twisting of the tubes and the fork crashes when braking by varying the geometry of the bike. All the major brands have prototypes with new solutions, but Yamaha was the first to take the plunge by marketing the first motorcycle without telescopic forks since the 1950s. In addition, the GTS's twenty-valve four-cylinder engine also features a catalytic exhaust system and electronic fuel injection, which was innovative at the time. On the GTS, the single-link swingarm front suspension, patented by the American RAD, is attached to the frame, while steering is provided by a fully independent system that rotates the wheel around an axle located in the hub. The principle is attractive and the rigidity of the system provides remarkable stability, but the machine is a bit heavy to handle at low speeds and its different reactions require a certain amount of getting used to it to get the most out of it. 4-cylinder 4 t water-cooled - 1,002 cm3 (75.5 x 56 mm) - 100 hp/9,000 rpm - 2 ACT, 20 valves - Electronic fuel injection - Catalysed exhaust system - 5-speed gearbox - Chain drive - Perimeter frame in aluminium, upper frame front in steel tubes - Suspensions front and rear in steel tubes - Front and rear in aluminium.  oscillante type Monocross - Front mono-disc swingarm suspension with aluminium arms - Front monodisc brakes Ø 320 mm, 6-piston caliper, front monodisc rear (ABS optional) - Tyres front 130/60 x 17", rear 170/60 x 17" - Tank 20 L - 246 kg - 225 km/h - Price (12/1992) 79 500 F. Yamaha leads the way with this GTS, but confuses customers, especially since the new techniques adopted are not race-bred and their price makes the GTS more than expensive. The GTS is also criticized by the big boys for not having a shaft drive system. This Yamaha GTS is in satisfactory original condition. It needs a restart and a general overhaul. Sold without a key.
