1978 ALFA ROMEO DUETTO SPIDER CODA TRONCA
SERIAL NUMBER 2466059 NUMEROUS INVOICES AND SERVICE MANUALS FROM THE PERIOD CHARMING AND DYNAMIC CONVERTIBLE FRENCH REGISTRATION Presented in Geneva in February 1966 under the name of Spider Duetto, the small roadster of Alfa Romeo is based on a Giulia 105 platform. It was the successor to the legendary Spider Giulietta released in 1955. Behind this almost timeless design is a great Italian name: Battista Pininfarina, the designer. Alfa Romeo engines have always been synonymous with sportiness and driving pleasure. It was launched with a four-cylinder 1570 cc engine with four overhead camshafts and 109 bhp, then in 1971 the Spider became 2000 Veloce and adopted a new, more powerful, all-aluminium 1962 cc long-stroke engine developing 128 bhp in carburettor version. The Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto presented in 1966 had an exceptionally long career, remaining for more than 15 years the only representative of the Giulia series. In addition to its playful character and melodious sound, the Alfa Romeo double shaft has the advantage of being powerful and very solid, as long as the warm-up time is respected. Our "Coda Tronca" (short version) has a nice red paint job, without any oxidation, the black skai upholstery is in good general condition and the black canvas top is new. The chrome and exterior trim are also very well preserved. Our road test showed that the 4 cylinder Twin Cam Bialbero and the manual gearbox are working well. This car will be handed over to the buyer with a good history, as many invoices and technical controls have been done recently. Whatever the season, one never misses the pleasure of driving a convertible, especially when it is an Alfa Romeo.
