SEVRES A soft porcelain rim plate of the blue zone service delivered to the countess of Artois in 1784 with polychrome decoration in the center of a bouquet of flowers in a medallion surrounded by a blue braid decorated with gold pearls, the wing decorated with flowers and blue braid decorated with gold pearls. Marked in gold: LL interlaced, without letter-date, mark of the gilder Chauvaux. The painting by Buteux fils ainé. 18th century, circa 1784. D. 24 cm. A chip on the reverse. Provenance: Marie-Thérèse of Savoy, Countess of Artois (1756-1805) This plate and the following crenellated bucket come from a small Sèvres service bought by the Countess of Artois at the Versailles sales in 1784. It is described Blue Zone. It included 36 plates at 18 pounds each, eight compote dishes, two sugar bowls, seven ice cups and their trays, two jam trays, two half-bottle buckets, one crenellated bucket and one ice bucket. All the plates of this service are painted by Charles Nicolas Buteux, eldest son. A plate dated 1784 was in the former Chappey collection, Frédéric Masson, "La porcelaine de Sèvres, collection Chappey", Les Arts, 1905, p. 15.
