1978 Porsche 911 SC Targa
Serial Number 9118210437 - Matching Numbers French original - Desirable convertible version Luxembourg circulation permit SC, two letters for "Super Carrera". This was the name of the 911 launched in 1978, which was supposed to be the last 911, following the arrival of the 928 and the 944. Thirteen years after its release, the 911 was a resounding success, having gradually mutated into a more livable GT. Porsche customers were mainly looking for a car that could be driven, with the precision and feel typical of the brand. In order to attract new customers who were more concerned with ease of use and reliability, Porsche developed the SC, whose engine was none other than the Turbo's, in a naturally-aspirated version of course and with a smoother torque curve than the 2.7 it replaced. The SC was the first Porsche to be fully galvanized, the first to be offered as a convertible and the first to feature power brakes. The Porsche 911 we are presenting was first registered in France in 1978. Powered by a 3.0L engine developing 180 horsepower for 1200 kilos, the sports car offers good performance but is more GT than truly sporty. Dressed in a nice blue color from the manufacturer, the car is highlighted by the choice of chrome elements turned black. This styling process is a period option called "Black Look" (code M496) and contrasts radically with the previous generation Targa. When entering the cabin, anyone who has ever looked through the window of a Porsche is not confused; everything is in its place and perfectly original: the 5 central meters, the angled manual gearbox, the Blaupunkt radio. The seats were redesigned for this generation and will continue to be used in the cockpits of the Stuttgart firm until the Porsche 993 at the end of the 1990s. Mechanically, the SC we're offering for sale keeps the promises of its predecessor in a characteristic sound. The engine starts and accelerates without any problem and our test drive showed that this car can be very pleasant and comfortable to drive, thanks to its 5-speed gearbox which is much better guided than the 911 type 901. A great entry into the 1980's, this Porsche 911 SC Targa with its original color is ideal for those who want a mythical convertible that can be transformed into a real waterproof coupe and shines by its versatility. We offer you the opportunity to acquire a classic classic car with style.
