History : Offered by Pauline de Bassano, first lady-in-waiting of the Empress Eugenie to her son Napoleon Maret, Duke of Bassano (1844-1906) Charles Oudin was a particularly innovative watchmaker and studied under Abraham-Louis Breguet, who held him in very high esteem. Oudin set up his own workshop at the Palais Royal no. 52 in 1805 and is today considered one of the oldest watchmaking institutions in France.
