Fréderic MILLET (1786-1859). French school. The Emperor Napoleon I in front bust, dressed as chasseurs à cheval de la Garde, wearing his decorations. Large miniature on paper pasted on cardboard signed and dated 1815. Watercolour and gouache. 19,5 x 15,8 cm. Biography : After a passage in the workshop of Jean-Baptiste Isabey of which he was considered one of the best students, Fréderic Millet followed the courses of Louis François Aubry. The 1840 almanac of 25,000 addresses lists among his many works portraits of the Empress Josephine made in 1808 and of the King of Rome. From 1827 onwards, he produced his first portraits for the Orléans family, for whom he became their official miniature supplier. Medals of second class in 1817 and 1824.
