Jean Baptiste ISABEY (1767-1855). The First... - Lot 81 - Osenat
Jean Baptiste ISABEY (1767-1855). The First Consul Bonaparte in full uniform in the gardens of the Château de Saint-Cloud. Sketch in pencil and wash, signed lower right " J. Isabey ". 14 x 23 cm. Under glass. Gilt frame. 80. ISABEY after. The First Consul Bonaparte in the gardens of the Malmaison. Colour engraving (insulated). 60 x 47 cm. Under glass, gilt frame with palmettes. A.B.E. 300/400 € History : This interesting sketch is based on Isabey's composition for the First Consul in the gardens of La Malmaison. Napoleon's profile here is more imperial, and the uniform is that of the pomegranates. However the absence of the Legion of Honour shows that we are still here under the Consulate in the gardens of Saint Cloud, the emblematic place of the seizure of power. Jean Baptiste ISABEY (1767-1855) The Emperor Napoleon I in uniform, in a front bust, wearing the order of the Legion of Honour and the Iron Crown.
