Napoleon I. - Autograph apostille signed "Np", on a coin addressed to him by Joseph Annibal FORTEZZA, former gendarmerie brigadier in the 13th battalion of the island of Elba. Handwritten piece, in Italian, with French translation of the time, by another hand. Portoferraio, December 1, 1814. 1 p. in-folio, ink bite with tear and small lack of apostille, angular cut with small lack of text, marginal tear restored, a few wormholes. PETITION OF A BALANCE DESIRING TO BE ENGAGED IN THE SERVICE OF NAPOLEON I ON THE ISLAND OF ELBE. "Un soldato di di dieciotto anni di servizio, sette ferite nei stendardi della patria, volontario, in oggi si è risoluto di prendere il suo congedo assoluto dalle truppi francesi, affine di gettarsi ay piedi di V[ostra] M[aestà] I[mperiale] e R[e] e se faciessi di vuopo ancora? morire per la conservazione ed esaltazione di V[ostra] M[aestà] . "Translation. A soldier of 18 years of service seven wounds under the standards of the fatherland, now a volunteer, resolved to take his absolute leave from the French troops, in order to throw himself at the feet of V[otre] M[ajesté], and if it were still necessary, TO DIE FOR THE RISING AND CONSERVATION OF V[OTHER] M[ajESTÉ] .
