1965 JAGUAR TYPE E SÉRIE 1 ROADSTER 4,2L
Serial number 1E10436 Original Hard Top Clear history Good condition of restoration French registration A true star of the 1960s and 1970s, a sports car adored by actors, wealthy heirs and amateur drivers, affectionately known as "The Shoe" because of the enormous size of its bonnet, and described as "the most beautiful car in the world" by Enzo Ferrari, a major figure in European sports cars at the time, the Jaguar E-Type needs no introduction. If beauty is subjective in the eyes of everyone, the first series to leave the factory in Coventry in 1961 remains one of the most desirable, a true standard bearer of the image of the E-Type in the collective imagination. The car we are presenting is an E-Type Series 1 Roadster delivered new in 1965 in Texas, it was very quickly imported in Europe and, rare thing, it does not have the American safety features which can spoil the aesthetics of the body. The presence of the original Hard-Top is a real asset as its original cost was exorbitant and customers were content with just the soft top. If the Hard Top keeps its original condition and requires a change of the seals, the car will undergo an aesthetic and mechanical restoration in 2019 and 2020. Bought at auction in 2019 in a beautiful condition but requiring bodywork, paint and upholstery touch-ups, the current owner took care of restoring and revising the brake system for a total of €1,960, he fitted an electronic ignition and did a complete dismantling of the front axle, change of the silent-block, front and rear shock absorbers, a bleeding of the water circuit and an installation of an electric fan for more than €5,000 The major mechanical work was done in March 2020 with an engine and gearbox removal, an engine tuning, a clutch kit, a repair of the rev counter for a total of 3 532 €. For the driving comfort, he installed an electric power steering, on the aesthetic side, he replaced the gear lever bellows, the interior mirror and the center of the steering wheel, he also cleaned the original upholstery. The hood is in almost new condition, it has been replaced recently as well as its black skai cover, you will appreciate its original wooden steering wheel which was cleaned and varnished. All this quality work was done at Garage Landra in Vence in the Alpes Maritimes. Today the car is in a beautiful aesthetic and mechanical condition, its original configuration, its thick file of invoices and period booklets as well as its hard-top make it a desirable and atypical E-Type on historic gatherings and rallies with an inimitable driving pleasure and line. A piece of British motoring history that is a must have in any collection.
