1963 JAGUAR MK.II 3,8L
Serial number 200511.DN Mechanical gearbox with overdrive Eligible for most of the major historic rallies French registration The first Jaguar monocoque saloon was born in 1955 with the beautiful XK engine reduced to 2.4 l, it was the 2.4 l Saloon. The car was beautiful and successful, and was an immediate success. This bewitching novelty breaks definitively with the past, it is feline, low and racy. At the very beginning of 1957, a new version was offered with the 3.4-litre engine, which transformed the model both in terms of performance and driving pleasure. On October 2, 1959, on the Jaguar stand at Earl's Court, William Lyons was happy. He presented his new car: the Jaguar Mk.II. The level of finishing is identical with precious woodwork and high quality leather, the real novelty comes from the light. By slimming down all the window pillars, light has been allowed to shine through the cabin. The overall look is lighter. Under the hood, there are three options: the 2.4-litre, 3.4-litre or 3.8-litre engine, all with the 6-cylinder dual overhead camshaft. It is still a total success and the line of Mk II will remain, of the opinion of all, like one of the most beautiful cars of the mark, the true sedan of sport! This Jaguar MK.II 3.8L was launched in 1963 in Great Britain. It was acquired by Mr Ravisse in 1991, who carried out an almost complete restoration of the car in the late 1990s. Today, the car is in a beautiful state of old restoration, the English green paint, made in 1999, still looks good and allows to notice that the car is particularly healthy. The interior with beige leatherette seats is in good general condition and has new carpets. Only the woodwork needs a new varnish, as there are no cracks. From a mechanical point of view, many expenses were recently incurred to get the Jaguar back on the road, including an overhaul of the carburetion, the ignition, the cooling system, the braking system and the suspension of the running gear. All this was done at the specialist Classic Affairs in Bourron Marlotte. The car is now in good working order, but a reliability upgrade is still to be done in order to be able to drive the 6-cylinder car with peace of mind. It will be sold with a large file of invoices since the 1990's, as well as pictures of the restoration done in the past. It is therefore an interesting model that this sporty sedan, a car eligible for the biggest rallies and which only needs a little attention to regain all its original performance!
