1960 PORSCHE 356 BT5 1600 S COUPÉ
Serial number 111699 Engine number 86510 type 616/2 Gearbox number 37288 type 741/2 Matching numbers French collector's registration Historically, the Porsche 356 was the first sports car manufactured and marketed by Porsche. Conceived by Ferry Porsche on the mechanical basis of the Volkswagen and designed by Erwin Komenda, it was produced in series from 1948 to 1965. Technically, it is a monocoque with four independent wheels and a four-cylinder engine in the rear cantilever. The production of the 356 lasted more than 17 years and 78,000 units were built. Originally the 356 was available as a coupe and a cabriolet, then at Hoffmann's request, a speedster version was created. Most of the versions have participated in competitions, and its record of achievements is impressive. The 356 is well built, reliable, light and agile. It will be the first to show the quality "Porsche". The 356B is released in 1960 and is replaced by the 356C in 1964. The Porsche 356 has since become a mythical car! This Porsche 356 BT5 1600S Coupé Reutter was delivered new in the USA. Its Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche tells us that it was born on May 19th 1960 with the 86510 engine, the 37288 gearbox under a Silver Metallic 6006 paint and with a black imitation upholstery: elements and specificities that it still has today. Its owner imported and acquired it in September 2014. It is the company ZS Style which then took care of the complete overhaul (engine, brakes, electricity, carburation...). It remains since then, exclusively maintained by this specialist. Among the last works are a repair of the two front seats by Jean-Philippe Duval in Reins, and the installation of a priming pump on the fuel system. Today, the Porsche is in a nice general condition, its paint is slightly patinated but without any major defect, its interior is mostly original, and above all, its mechanics are well maintained and work well. This is a Porsche 356 that is just waiting to be driven, a fully matching numbers model that will delight enthusiasts of the brand!
