OMEGA Speedmaster Mark 4.5 Ref : 176.0012. Serial number : 508925. Circa 1970. Omega steel chronograph, cushion case, signed black dial, luminescent painted baton markers, Arabic numerals, tachymeter scale printed under the glass. Date window at 3 o'clock, seconds counter at 9 o'clock, 24-hour indication at 12 o'clock, to know whether it is day or night and chronograph hour counter at 6 o'clock. Mechanical self-winding movement, Lemania 5100 calibre. Screw-down case-back. Steel bracelet with signed folding clasp. The name of the Speedmaster comes from the tachometric bezel of the chronograph. The brand hesitated between chronomaster, flightmaster and speedmaster. The first version of the Speedmaster appears in 1957. In 1962 NASA begins to test watches that can resist to extreme conditions. High temperature, low temperature, temperature cycles in vacuum, humidity, oxygen-rich environment, shocks, linear acceleration, vibration.
