Claude GALLE, attributed to Paire de Brûle-Parfum in matt bronze and gilt, resting on square bases in red Morello cherry marble finished with small boulle feet, decorated with masks with Hermès heads. The bellies are decorated with an antique frieze. The lids with pinecones and laurel leaves rest on a fine gallery of openwork foliage. H: 45 - W: 12 - D: 12 cm Empire Period Related works: Old Collection of Thurn & Taxis, St. Emmeran. Russia, St. Petersburg, Pavlovsk Palace. Biography: Claude GALLE (1759-1815), bronze-smith and chiseler, received master in 1786 and active in rue Vivienne, supplied the Crown's furniture storage under Louis XVI but also, and above all, during the Empire.
