Serial number 102053 Interesting HCV project Many parts sold with the car French car registration document The Toyota Celica TA40 was offered from the end of 1977. A true sports car, the Celica is equipped with several engines ranging from 83 to 113 horsepower. The Celica was a real sports car, equipped with several engines ranging from 83 to 113 horsepower. The Celica won a fine rally record in the hands of Thérier and Vial, becoming French champion in 1979 and 1980, ahead of the Escort RS and other factory R5 Alpine cars. This Toyota Celica TA40 is a nice project to make it a replica of the rally car of the time, a start of preparation was made. The engine was rebuilt a little over 2,500 kilometers ago to 3TB specifications, including a new crankshaft bringing the displacement to 1,800 cc, a new camshaft, the lubrication was revised, all moving parts (valves, valve springs etc...) were replaced by higher quality parts, the cylinder head was revised, the ignition was improved, Dellorto DHLA 45 carburettors were installed, a custom exhaust was fitted, the cooling, fuel supply was improved and made more reliable, while the clutch was replaced by competition parts. As prepared, the engine would be given 133 horsepower and 177 Nm of torque. The passenger compartment was lightened, a Motamec steering wheel and a bucket were installed, as well as oil pressure gauges, rev counter, water temperature etc... The car now needs some finishing work but will be sold with two additional front fenders, a hood, a pedal box on the floor, four fender extensions, two front shock absorber turrets, a new starter, a used mastervac, a new water pump, mirrors and turn signals, a phase 1 grille marked ST, an oil pan gasket, an exhaust manifold gasket, an intake manifold gasket. It's an interesting project for this Toyota Celica, for which most of the work has already been done.
