Mahogany GUERIDON. The circular table has a white top surrounded by a moulded border bordered by four gilded copper balls and interrupted on one side. The belt opens with two drawers and a pull-out for writing facing each other, and two hinged semi-circular compartments. They are separated by small rosette springs and two gilt copper flutes. To their plumbs are attached square and tapered legs with copper flutes and bevelled angles. They are joined by a crotch shelf with curved sides and edged with gilt copper moulding. Moulded capitals and shoes in gilt copper. Germany, end of the 18th century. Height 75,5 cm Diam. 67,5 cm. (Reinforcements and old consolidations). Provenance: Osenat June 29, 2008 lot 68 The Collections of the Hotel Masseran. This beautifully finished pedestal table is naturally in the dominant style highlighted by David Roentgen in Germany in the years 1770- 1790. It could be a Berlin work.
