Superb bracelet ordered by Albert of Saxony (1828-1902) for his wife, Princess Caroline of Holstein Gottorp known as Carole of Wasa (1833-1907). Bracelet in silver 925 thousandths and gold 585 thousandths, articulated and openwork, the links composed of the letters forming the first names "CAROLA" set with diamonds and "ALBERT" set with emeralds, between lines of small old cut diamonds. The clasp is adorned with a removable motif that can form a brooch, composed of two intertwined hearts set with antique cut diamonds and calibrated emeralds. 19th century. Length: about 18/18.5 cm. Gross weight: 68.1 g. In its case of House Moritz Elimeyer in Dresden History: Made by the Saxon Court Jeweller, Moritz Elimeyer, this engagement bracelet was ordered by Albert of Saxony (1828-1902) for Princess Caroline of Holstein Gottorp dit Carole of Wasa (1833-1907). The wedding was celebrated on June 18, 1853. Biography: King Albert of Saxony (1828-1902), the eldest son of King John I of Saxony and Amelia of Bavaria, was a member of the House of Wettin and the fifth King of Saxony from 29 October 1873 to 19 June 1902 under the name Albert I. He took part in the Austro-Prussian War and then in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, and witnessed the creation of the German Empire which replaced the German Confederation, of which the Kingdom of Saxony was a member. In 1852, against her father's wishes, Caroline converted to Catholicism and on June 18, 1853, she married in Dresden Hereditary Prince Albert of Saxony, nephew of King Frederick Augustus II of Saxony.
