Biography: Louise-Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun is a French painter, known for her numerous portraits of Queen Marie-Antoinette and other crowned European heads. As a fervent royalist, she was successively a painter of the French court, of Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI, of the Kingdom of Naples, of the court of the Emperor of Vienna, of the court of the Emperor of Russia and of the Restoration. He is also known to have painted many self-portraits.
