PAJOL (Louis Eugène Léonce). Signed autograph... - Lot 66 - Osenat
PAJOL (Louis Eugène Léonce). Signed autograph letter to his "dear friend". Wilhelmshöhe Castle near Cassel, 11 September 1870. 3 pp. in-8. Son of the famous general of Napoleon I, and brother of a general of the Guard, he himself received this rank and was employed as an aide-de-camp to Emperor Napoleon III, whom he accompanied in his captivity after Sedan. He then became one of the working ankles of the Bonapartist movement. "Since I left you, I have travelled a lot, from Metz to Châlons, from Châlons to Sedan, and from Sedan to Cassel. So I am a prisoner of war at Wilhelmshöhe Castle near Cassel. I will refrain from any political and war considerations, we will cause them, when we see each other. It is likely that you are in contact with a banker from Cassel, if so, send them to my wife, to Bellozanne 1200 ff. and have them picked up at my home by your correspondent in Cassel. I have just sold my horses which had cost me 8000 ff, for the modest sum of 2400 ff, I want to send him half of them, needing nothing here, since I am hosted at the expense of the King[of Prussia], and under the best conditions. I would then like your correspondent to send for the sum where I am, there are only 3 kilometers of Cassel. It is understood that I would pay for the clerk's run. If you have a correspondent, do it right away, if you don't have one, always write me a word, so that I know what I'm dealing with, that I can then take another way, and the news you give me will always be pleasant... »
