NEIPPERG (Adam Albert von). Letter signed... - Lot 49 - Osenat
NEIPPERG (Adam Albert von). Letter signed as Knight of Honour of the Duchess of Parma Marie-Louise of Austria, in Italian, addressed to Count Leopoldo Branciforte in Plaisance. Parma, March 28, 1828. 1 p, in-4, 2 slits with restored folds on the back. "Her Majesty, wishing to give Your Illustrious Lordship a token of her satisfaction with the cantata entitled Les Charités par vous composée et mise aux pieds de son auguste personne, instructs me to send you the attached gold box. In carrying out the orders given to me by His Majesty, I take this opportunity to renew to you the sentiments of the distinguished consideration with which I am, from Your Most Illustrious Lordship, the very devoted tale of Neipperg, Her Majesty's Knight of Honour. "As an Austrian general who served in Marengo and Leipzig, Adam Albert von Neipperg (1775-1829) also conducted important diplomatic missions. In 1815, he was in charge of watching Marie-Louise so that she would not try to join her husband. He became her lover and had four children. He followed her to his Duchy of Parma where he participated in governance and, shortly after Napoleon I's death, married her.
