SOLDIER'S LETTER. - GONNARD (Benoît). Signed autograph letter to his parents in Mogneneins, Ain. Courbevoie[in the present department of Hauts-de-Seine], 25 April 1813. 2 pp. 3/4 in-4, printed header "garde impériale. Grenadiers. Skirmishers" illustrated with a woodcut vignette enhanced with colors by hand, address on the back, some dirt, small tear due to the opening. "« ... We are located at the barracks in Courbevois near Paris. My dear father, don't be silly about making a filler. As you told me, it is not possible to do so because since the year is gone, coughs[sic for "everyone and"] do it for me, the answer is the same in the pay, My dear father and mother, do not make you feel sorry for me because for me I do not make myself point... "Beautiful vignette in colour: effigies of Napoleon I and Marie-Louise with a grumpy from the Guard. Attached is a passport issued by the mayor of Saint-Gildas in the current department of Côtes-d'Armor for a clogmaker travelling to Saint-Malo (1809, with, on the back, an apostille signed by the prefect of the department, Jean-Pierre Boullé).
