Armchair with overturned backrest in white... - Lot 272 - Osenat
Armchair with overturned backrest in white molded relaqué wood carved with palmettes, the curved belt, it rests on front baluster feet and arched hind feet. Stamped, Jacob D. rue Meslée. Consulate period. Jacob D. rue Meslée, stamp used from 1803 and 1813. The location of this chair does not seem to have been known until 1815. MRCV corresponds to the property mark affixed under Louis XVIII. This chair was moved from Versailles to Fontainebleau, the double F and N°22399 correspond to an entrance on 8 May 1863 for the service of the Château's stables, probably for the apartment and services of the Grand Veneur under Napoleon III. The seat is then covered in embossed green velvet and described as a "stick chair". It was sold in 1881, during the Domaine's public sales.
