Nice commercial license to the big imperials... - Lot 268 - Osenat
Nice commercial license to the big imperials authorizing the Dutch ship "Hoffnung" to trade for the stipulated goods. Done at Les Tuileries on January 9, 1810. Important signature of the Emperor Napoleon ( "Nap"), Maret, Duke of Bassano, and the Minister of the Interior Bachasson de Montalivet. Dry stamp with large imperial weapons. Targeted by the Prefect of the Lower Charente. 48 x 33 cm. B.E. First Empire period. Background: This could be the "Die Gute Hoffnung", a neutral ship, licensed (which would then be the one we are presenting), and captured by a French privateer "Le Sédiman" in 1812. This capture gave rise to maritime jurisprudence in 1818: "A privateer who catches a vessel at sea without legitimate reasons must be ordered to pay damages. »
