Cardboard binding in a diamond morocco style, inside lined with light blue silk. Corner dishes trimmed with polished polished steel trims cut and perforated. Missing an attribution plate on the first dish. In its cardboard box in a morocco style marked with a small iron "Romances" (accident at the closing tab). B.E. Early 19th century. History: These "Romances" written by Hortense and drawn by Turpin de Crissé have been published, which served as gifts offered by Hortense during gifts or donations. The famous author will testify: "I made them easily. "Leaving for Syria" was made at the Malmaison when my mother played tric-trac. It was successful and sung during the 1809 war, as "The Sentinel" had been during the Spanish War. Since then, at each campaign, I was asked to give one, which I always did with difficulty, because I didn't like to be considered an author, a reputation too brilliant for my weak talent" (Memoirs of Queen Hortense) We don't know the history of our copy, however some rare copies were executed by Turpin de Crissé, Isabey or Queen Hortense herself
