Jean Urbain GUERIN (1760-1836). Rectangular gold dragées box, finely carved with stylized leaves and flowers, decorated on the top with an oval miniature signed on the bottom right, representing Madame Mère, Laetitia Bonaparte née Ramolino, Mother of Emperor Napoleon I, in bust, wearing a tiara with three rows of pearls and a necklace in a red dress decorated with lace. Goldsmith's stamp Nicolas Huguet, rooster stamp 1789-1809, stamp of great guarantee Paris (1809- 1819) lion's head in a circle. Miniature signed lower right "Guérin" Length: 8.5 cm. Width: 5.3 cm. Height: 1.8 cm. Weight: 144g. In its red morocco case covered with ivory silk, closed with two hooks. Case: 6.4 x 9.7 cm. Provenance: Descendant Laetitia Ramolino. This box was allegedly given by Mrs. Mother to her cousin Germaine Angèle Ramolino. Biography: Nicolas Huguet, goldsmith, master in 1787. It was then regularly registered until 1793 quai de l'Horloge. In 1806, it was listed on the Quai des Orfèvres until 1816. A Huguet snuffbox bearing the portrait of Napoleon I would be referenced in the collections of the Louvre Museum
