Sèvres Porcelain plate of the Egyptian service commissioned by Josephine de Beauharnais with bistre monochrome decoration in the centre of men gathered under vaults, the legendary scene on the reverse side in purple: Headquarters in the tombs near Nagadi, the wing decorated in gold with Egyptian gods in profile on a blue background. Signed in the scene: Swebach. Marked: M Imp.le de Sèvres 1812, VD in red for Vandé, 10.a in green and 16 7 b in gold. Painting by Jacques-François-Joseph Swebach, gilding by Pierre-Jean-Baptsite Vandé (active in Sèvres between 1779 and 1824). Empire period, 1812. D. 23.5 cm.
