History: In 1797, Napoleon had Pauline married Charles Victoire Emmanuel Leclerc, one of the best generals in the Republic. Charles Leclerc's young sisters will marry, one, the future Marshal Davout and the other, Major General Louis Friant. The wedding was celebrated in Milan on June 14, 1797. The following year, in April, they had a son named Dermide Louis Napoleon. Accompanying Leclerc to Santo Domingo, she takes care of her husband who had contracted yellow fever. Charles Leclerc died on November 1, 1802. Pauline's despair is spectacular, she cuts her hair and places it in her coffin. She had her husband's heart put in an urn and repatriated the remains to France to bury them in the park of their castle in Montgobert. Provenance: Descendance of Marshal Davout, Duke of Auerstaedt, Prince of Eckmühl, brother-in-law of General Leclerc.
